But I don’t think people who say it does not work actually read all of the information about this item.First and foremost, you can only use cookware where a magnet will stick to the bottom of it. So, for the most part, that means stainless steel cookware and an iron skillet.You can NOT use:• Aluminum – No!• Glass – No!• Ceramic, such as Corningware – No!• Plastic – No!When you turn the cooktop on, the cooktop itself does not get hot. If you have seen or used other glass cooktops, where you see the red rings underneath getting hot, that is not the same as this item. When you turn this on, and place a stainless steel pan on top of it, it is the bottom of the stainless steel pan which gets hot and not the cooktop itself. Now granted, after you have been cooking for a while and the pot is really hot, it will transfer heat back to the cooktop. So you don’t want to touch the cooktop because it will be hot from the transfer of heat.I have used a few of these, so I am very familiar with them. This one works fine, but there are a couple of caveats you need to be aware of.The only way to turn this on is to plug it in. So once you are finished using it, you will need to unplug it. But wait until the fans stop before you unplug it. There are cooling fans underneath.Though you can use both of the burners at the same time, you cannot have both of them on high (10) at the same time. This is an 1800 W cooktop. So you can have one on high, and one on low… Both on medium… And things like that.You also need to make sure you read the instruction manual before you plug it in. Because, once you plug it in, lights will start flashing, but that does not mean that it is turned on. You should do this before you start pressing any buttons, because if you start pressing buttons and then wait too long to place a pot or skillet on top, it will reset. Then you have to start over.Again I really like this type of cooktop. They work really great. It’s nice to have something like this for extra burners when you need them, or to cook outside, or just to keep things warm. But it does take a little time of getting used to them. So if you are new to this type of cooking, have a little bit of patience. Once you see how it works, you’ll probably really like it.
