If you are looking for a time-saving way to fully cook rice (not instant rice) this probably will not be for you. I was not looking to save time, but to save having to use my stove and pots. There is only a time saving of five minutes between stove and microwave. The product did cook the rice nicely, in my opinion, which is all I really wanted to do so I like this cooker. Clean-up was easy. There is a website with tips and recipes and I honestly have not checked it out.When I cooked my brown rice I used the amounts of rice/water and cooking time on the rice package. I followed the cooker's instructions for arranging the inner and outer lid. I did not brown the rice first, since this is for times when I do not want to use the stove (or do not have space on the stove to cook rice). I used the exact cooking time of 25 minutes for the rice and I believe I will have to still add an additional five minutes of cooking time due to my elevation. My suggestion is to learn the ins and outs of microwaving rice in your specific oven before you actually need the rice. | Warranty | First off I read a lot of reviews, one that was very helpful said this cooker is for a 800 watt microwave. Mine is a 1300 watt, so I powered it down to #8 power level. I put one cup long grain white rice in cooker, (I've NEVER rinsed my rice before cooking in all the years I've ever cooked rice, so I didn't using this), added 2 cups liquid, ( I used low sodium chicken broth), stirred the rice and liquid with the paddle, then put on the Pressure chamber plate, ( tabs up ward), then the Lid making sure to position the Lid so the holes in the top lid are off set from the holes on the pressure chamber plate. Then I locked the Lid and with the power level at #8 cooked for 12 minutes (like the Cooking Guideline said). When it finished cooking, I left it in the microwave for 5 minutes, removed it and took the Lid and Pressure chamber plate off and fluffed the rice with the paddle. Perfectly cooked rice! No sticking! The rice was delicious! Leftovers I put in the small bowl. I washed the cooker by hand with liquid soap. I have other Sistema products that I've had for like 10 years and I NEVER put them in the dishwasher, so easy to wash by hand and then they are good as new. This rice cooker is so easy to use and it made delicious rice really fast! SUCCESS first time using! |
